i am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind
Possessing and caressing me
Jai Guru Deva OM
Nothing's gonna change my world.........
-Across the Universe, The Beatles

I just watched the movie Across the Universe, and WOW! It was AMAZING! I have to give it two thumbs way up. It's like someone took my concept of music, and how I feel, and put it into a movie, using Beatles songs. I can't even explain it! But, the imagery, the music, the concept of the film, the cinematography; all mind blowing. I was so impressed with this film, that when it comes out I will probably buy it.

Not only where the actors they picked phenomenol singers, but the renditions of the classic songs were perfect. It was like you were hearing a brand new song. The symbols throughout the film spoke to me as well. They were powerful and moving, and it really gave you a concept of what the time was like in the 70's.

I can't stop thinking about this film! I really liked it. Rick didn't like it as much as I did, but he said it was ok. I don't know, I feel like it just really spoke to me. It was what I would make a movie about if I could; purely music. And the Beatles at that, a revolutionary group in the history of music.

I'd love to write a thesis of revolutionary music and its effects on society. Hows that for fun? Crazy that that appeals to me? Music is all I think about, it is my life. I really have got the feeling lately that maybe I should be pushing my career in that direction. The only problem is I know there is not much money in that field. When I originally went to college, I had big dreams of being a record producer, or a band scout. But I know that the industry is cut throat, and not a big money maker. But do what makes you happy? I don't know. I still have conflicting feelings.

Anyways...thats enough of a rant for today.
To leave you with an endnote:

Living is easy with eyes closed
Misunderstanding all you see
It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out
It doesn't matter much to me
Let me take you down, cos I'm going to
Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever

Sincerely,
Kailey

Music Critic

Can you be a music connoisseur?
Someone who appreciates it so much, the judge and pick apart the complexity of the songs?
I think you can...
and I would like to think that I'm a music connoisseur.
I listen to the lyrics
the rhythm
the guitars
the drums
the bass

I find what makes the song tick
I find what makes the band tick
I find what makes the music speak to me

I like to analyze and write reviews on a new CD for bands I love. I guess you could say it was a hobby of mine. There is nothing better than getting a new CD, rushing home and listening to it, forwards, backwards, listening to the same song over and over. I will listen to a CD till I know it completely; till I can understand the underlying message in the lyrics.

I wish this could be my job.

Sincerely,
Kailey

This is what you'll get......when you mess with us

Let down and hanging around
Crushed like a bug in the ground
Let down and hanging around...

What a way to start, with some Radiohead lyrics! Radiohead is by far one of my favorite bands. They are experimental, to say the least, and their music is groundbreaking and artistic. To listen to Radiohead and then express into words what you just heard is near impossible. The music is so deep. If you haven't heard Radiohead, I suggest you go out and listen to OK Computer immediately! Or perhaps sample Kid A, another choice album. If you prefer less of the weird, wacky style, The Bends is a good choice.

Anyways....enough on the rant about Radiohead. Trying to work on school work, but sometimes its just so dull. Do you ever feel like you have literally ran out of things to do on the internet? I feel like that now.....I have my headphones on, Radiohead blaring, and I'm just staring at my internet explorer wondering: "What do I do know"? I've checked every email, myspace, facebook, myfamily, everyone's blog, and there is nothing left to do. I've went on ebay and drooled over things I wish I could buy; I've snooped on myspace; I've played games; I've worked on my research paper; what is left?

I have these new noise cancelling earphones and I LOVE them, but sometimes they really get to my ears. It feels like they are vacuumed sealed, and my brain is slowly being sucked out. But let me tell you, sound cancelling really does work! Plus, I like the fact that they are big and cushy, and not stupid earbuds that make my ears ache after a while.

I had this ingenius idea the other day for Rick and I to start a cover band, but then I realized that I would actually have to sing, and possibly play guitar for that, two things which I think I am good at, but who knows if I really am.........

And to leave you on an end note.....

From your opinion which is of no consequence at all......
whats that?
whats that?

sincerely,
kailey

The Best Damn Fettuccine Alfredo You've Ever Tasted

I love fettuccine Alfredo. It's probably one of my favorite meals ever. Tonight I set out to cook it for Rick and I, for our dinner. I went to the store and bought the basic ingredients; half and half, Parmesan cheese, fettuccine noodles; and when I got home I decided I wanted to try a new recipe.

I found one on the food network from Everyday Italian, but I decided to modify it a little bit. What turned out was one of the best meals I think I've ever cooked! I was impressed with myself!

So, here is my recipe. I am guesstimating at the measurements, because I just kind of threw everything in.

1 box of fettuccine noodles
2 cups half and half
1/4 cup lemon juice
8 TBS of unsalted butter
1.5 oz of shredded Parmesan (what I used was one of those plastic containers)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
Pinch of nutmeg
Pinch of black pepper
Pinch of lemon pepper

Start boiling water for noodles. Once you add noodles, pour 1 and 1/2 cups of half and half, and the lemon juice in a deep saucepan. (The half and half may separate, as it did on mine, but don't worry, it will be fine). Add the butter and heat over medium heat until the butter melts.

Add the pasta to the cream mix and toss. Add the remaining half and half, and sprinkle in the shredded Parmesan while you stir the mixture. Then add the grated Parmesan. Add the nutmeg, black pepper, and lemon pepper. Keep heating and stirring until the sauce thickens.

Serves 6 or more people.

This sauce is really rich, so anymore than just a little bit is too much. I served it with lemon chicken.

Try it! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me! :)

Sincerely,
Kailey
